High Rise Window Cleaners: Tips for Cleaning Safely and Efficiently

Keeping your high-rise windows clean is not as easy as it may seem. With professional high rise window cleaners and the right tools and precautions, you can safely and efficiently clean those hard-to-reach areas that are just out of your arm’s reach. Follow these tips for cleaning high-rise windows safely and efficiently!

You’ll need a ladder that is both sturdy and tall enough to reach your windows, safe footing to keep yourself from slipping as you work, a squeegee with adjustable bristles to help fit different sized windows, a bucket for water and cleaning solutions, some rags or towels for drying the windows if necessary, gloves to protect your hands from any chemicals or rough surfaces on the glass exterior. It’s best not to clean windows on an extremely windy day; you could be at risk of falling off the ladder. When you climb up onto your high-rise window washing platform made by your tall ladder, make sure to put your weight towards the rear of the platform so it doesn’t tip backward. If this happens when you are washing outside of the high-rise window, you could fall. Never step onto the window itself; always use a safe and sturdy ladder to reach your windows.

After you have found a suitable cleaning solution to use for your high-rise windows, mix the solution in a bucket with water and start washing. When first starting to clean a window, wipe horizontally from the top corner of the window down towards the bottom corner. This will prevent streaking that could occur if you were to just wipe vertically or diagonally. Apply as much pressure as needed onto your squeegee as you push upwards from bottom to top. If there are any tough stains on your high-rise windows, simply dip your rag into your cleaning solution and scrub until they fade away or come off completely depending on how baked-in they may be.

When working with any chemicals or cleaning solutions on your exterior windows, make sure they are completely rinsed off of the glass before it dries! Affix squeegee blades to fit each individual window from inside so that when you move from one window to another, it’s as easy as switching out the blade attached to the window washing pole rather than climbing up and down a ladder multiple times.

Afterward, wipe down all wet surfaces with a clean towel or rag so no water is left behind to leave streaks or spots on the window. Allow windows to dry before drawing near them with your hands, as any moisture can cause streaking if left to dry over long periods of time. While you’re working, keep your feet planted firmly on the ground and not dangling from a high-rise window washing platform made by propping up your ladder against the building exterior. If you tip backward, you could fall off this unstable surface and severely injure yourself!

When keeping your windows clean becomes too difficult for you to reach home, bring out the big equipment! Professionals use telescoping poles attached to their ladders which make it easy for them to access difficult areas without having to take risks that are simply not worth taking. Make sure all chemicals are completely wiped off of the glass before allowing it to dry so water spots do not accumulate.
